Are We All Faking it!!?

It was an honour to be featured in the Daily Mail Lifestyle online this last week. READ HERE

A feature titled ‘I was a model back in the 90s – we partied every night and agents told us to stop eating. But here’s why the miserable green – juice obsessed influencers in leggings working today have made the industry worse.”

This piece was more than nostalgic, it is referring to an era without the smart phones, the personal branding, the managed and staged model party where everyone has “fun”

Has life become more about the IG picture? And less about the moment?

And it’s not just celebrities and models, everyone is at it; Mums. Dads, kids, Grannie’s…. nightclubs, parties, gigs, exhibitions, even food!!! nowhere and no-thing escapes a flick.

But where is the fun in that?

In the 90s I was a young fashion model, a club kid without responsibility, out every night, I wouldn’t dream of sitting in.

“With a distinct bleached blond cut, mickey graced the covers of Honey and Blitz as well as I-D magazine before stopping at 25 and going into the fashion world. She has now ended up in the wellness industry”

The article continues with references about the lack of individuality in the fashion models today, they all seem so glum…do you have to be serious to be cool?

Surely being cool is to be happy in yourself, the confidence, freedom to express yourself without the need to fit into social norms.

I went back to modelling at the age of 50 because I wanted to break the norm (again) promote the older woman as a confident cool, stylish character. Not an invisible bland has-been, too old to be relevant in modern culture, and here we are. I am part of a cultural revolution and there’s nothing fake about it, this is for real. Menopause rather than inhibiting your next life has released you from your past life and your all in on the next chapter.

I have written a programme for men and women over 50 to shift from crisis ( a midlife one) to clarity. I help my clients experience the essence of life, the present moment, releasing them from past narratives and negative conclusions about how their life could be.

This programme is an opportunity to create a life long plan for physical, emotional, energetically and spiritual wellbeing from the inside out.

I have been practising yoga and macrobiotics since the 90s , there’s nothing woo or fake, overwhelming or trend based advice about my approach to midlife and beyond, we are all heading in one direction, lets do it well together.

This blog book recommendation  Ian McEwan What We Can Know.

Set 100 years in the future, it’s not a sci fi, quite the opposite, it’s an interesting read about how we will look back at this period in history. It’s not nostalgia but like the 90s it will never be the same again.
